Published!

November 5, 2010

It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to say this: One of my new pieces, “Floating,” has been accepted for publication! Many things have changed since I last made such a statement. Most of you are learning of this online, rather than in a phone call or in person. The literary journal itself is published online; there’s no printed copy for you to buy. In fact, you don’t have to pay a thing to read my submission or the work of the many other talented poets in this issue.

Other changes can be seen in the piece that was accepted. It’s written to a strict form called etheree, and while my poems typically have a syllabic rhythm, if you are familiar with my work you know they rarely fit any formal form. It’s also a change of pace from most of the sad, painful pieces I write. Enjoy!

Julie, finally got around to checking this out. It is beautiful. Congratulations. I could imagine your fall floating trip. Was it your inspiration?

Thanks, pretty girl! Yes, the Utah float was the inspiration. When I started writing it, the form just sort of took hold. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
